Valentine's- just the fun bits

So making Valentine's with my students is always one of the more interesting days of the year.  Although last year's conversation is still my favorite, there were some good moments this year, too.
  • A distractible 2nd grader furtively crafted a valentine for his secret crush.  I returned it to him after he left it on the lawn, but not before reading the now-public secret message:  "I like you because you are nicefull."
  • Thank you techr from give usaf  led chip.  (Not sure how the US Air Force would feel about receiving lead chips, but this guy was righfully glad he got to go on the field trip, as he got suspended before he could deliver his valentine.)

  • Each kid chose their own person to write to.  This one was a surprise:
Dear Satan,
I like you because you is nice to kids.

Me: Um, why did you choose that one? Kiddo: Because. Santa is really nice. He brings kids presents. Me: whew!
  • My favorite closer: one girl wanted to finish on Friday. When reminded that there's no school on Friday, she shouted, "No fair!!.....wait, yes fair!"
May your Valentine be more like Santa than Satan and may none of your chocolates include lead chips.  All my love, dear blog readers.
Happy Valentine's Day!
