Time literally marches on

FYI- Eastern Australia is 17 hours ahead of California. i.e. Noon on Tuesday in California is 5 am in Sydney, Brisbane, or Cairns.
Speaking of time, I saw the most amazing clock today. It was in the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. The museum is about neither power nor houses, but innovation. Some guy in NSW built a working replica of the mechanical clock in a Strassburg cathedral. At roughly eight feet tall and four feet wide, it does tell time, but it doesn’t stop there. It tells the story in simple mechanical figures of Christ blessing the 12 apostles, complete with Satan appearing, a cock crowing 3 times, Peter’s denials, and Judas carrying the bag. It also has a working model of the phases of the moon, the actual orbits of the planets around the sun, the solar and lunar schedules, the tides, the time in five major cities, and mechanical figures of Greek dieties representing the days of the week. For some reason, the days of the week rotate at 3:55pm each day. Maybe that’s when the workday should end, and the fun of evening begin. Although the clock’s creator appeared to have control of all kinds of time, eventually the time ran out. He passed away in 1948. We all have limited time, so make the most of whatever you’ve got. That is exactly why I’m here in Australia.
